Today’s service was a beautiful tribute to a lovely man; it was heart-warming and a real privilege to be a part of. James was the nicest neighbour anyone could wish for: always friendly, cheerful and considerate. He was kindness itself when one of our daughters accidentally bumped his car when she was a new driver, reassuring her, rather than being angry. Having heard the tributes today, it is clear that was his nature. We will miss his cheery smile.

I am very sorry to hear that James has passed away. Please accept my condolences.
James and I worked together for two years and shared an office for one year. He was always kind, thoughtful, helpful and fun. I will always remember him fondly.

Death is incredibly hard to process but I’m finding a little bit of comfort knowing that you are in a better place.
The day I found out about your death reminded me of the cup final some 10 years ago, when I threw my medals in the bin and you corrected me that ‘one must be graceful in defeat.’ This loss feels like defeat but again by this story I’m reminded there is power in our reaction.
Dear God may I obtain the ability to demonstrate extreme: love, care and selflessness as James did so frequently when he was with us on Earth.
